Equipment

GULI Diving is a complete dive shop. We have over 15 sets of complete dive gear and our own boat. We have a compressor that can mix both air and nitrox. If you’re EAN Certified, we can upgrade your mix to NITROX at no extra charge.

If you call ahead and give us an idea of what type of dive you are doing, we can definitely accomodate you. For instance, if you are on a photography trip, we can prepare stations for cameras on land and fresh water containers on the boat.

DIVING GEAR AT A GLANCE

Diving is gear intensive. All students should familiarize themselves with the basic diving equipment.

Cylinder
There are several types based on the material it is made of, but they all serve the same function: store the mixture of air which you take underwater. On average, a cylinder contains 3,000 psi of compressed air which may last depending on how deep you go and how comfortable you are with breathing techniques underwater. More often than not, a full tank of air may last 45-60 minutes.

Regulator
The regulator serves as your lungs underwater. It is the device that transports compressed air from the cylinder into your mouth allowing you to inhale and exhale. The regulator also comes with a spare “octopus” which can be used as a secondary failsafe apparatus as well as an SPG to monitor how deep you are going and how much air you have left.

Buoyancy Control Device
Simply called the “BCD” this is the “backpack” that divers wear allowing them to stay neutrally buoyant underwater. The BCD may have pockets for weights, a strap at the back for the cylinder, and more straps and pockets to keep your gear streamlined. The BCD allows divers to stay level underwater so that they do not shoot up or sink to the bottom.

Skin Diving Equipment
This is the set of snorkeling equipment used for diving without a cylinder. It consists of your mask, fins, booties and snorkel.
